A Father’s Photo Legacy
Sharing His Story
Our dad, Alvin Riesbeck, had a nearly lifelong passion for photography. His interest was first peaked as a teenager when he spent a summer going cross country with his father, taking photos at national parks along the way. He took wedding photos in his early 20s but his photo fascination soon turned to planes, trains, and automobiles. Once he had a family, including my sister Jen and I, his lens focused on our everyday life and adventures. But then as he got closer to retirement, wildlife and landscapes grabbed his attention – birds, bears, budding flowers and falling autumn leaves. When he left his job, he was fortunate to travel much of North America, capturing gorgeous sunrises and sunsets in national parks, playful polar bear cubs wrestling on the frozen tundra, or stoic lighthouses standing guard around the Great Lakes.
His “hobby” gave him much joy and made us so proud. His photographs number into the thousands and we think they warrant sharing with the world. That’s why we’ve created this website as a tribute to his amazing eye and indomitable spirit. We hope you enjoy looking at his stunning and inspiring legacy as much as we do. We plan to add more of his treasured work throughout the year(s) … with special celebrations and fundraisers along the way.
