Stunning, spectacular, striking. What word would you use to describe Dad’s image of the Upper Antelope Canyon in Arizona?
Dad was a frequent visitor to Lock and Dam No. 14 near LeClaire, Iowa, on the Upper Mississippi River. It’s one of the best spots to see eagles feeding in the winter.
Dad explored the forest preserves around his house looking for interesting architecture along with the birds, flowers, and wildlife he loved. He found this gorgeous 19th century windmill at the Fabyan Forest Preserve in Batavia, IL.
The Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL was a favorite shooting spot of Dad’s. He could find flowers, wildlife, landscapes, even gorgeous sunrises, all in one spot.
Dad took this photo of Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse during a trip to Nova Scotia in the fall of 2011. It’s one of 160 historic lighthouses in the province, located in a small fishing village.
Thank goodness Dad was a morning guy! He never failed to catch a gorgeous sunrise. This was on a trip to the Oregon coast.
A favorite of Dad’s trips was a two-week odyssey in Alaska. Our mom joined him as they toured the state, including the outback.
